LavenderLounge Receives GLBT Company of the Year Nom

SAN FRANCISCO - LavenderLounge.com has been nominated for the XBIZ Award “GLBT Web Company of the Year”. The 2008 XBIZ Awards will be held on Thursday, February 7 at The Highlands in Hollywood, California.

The XBIZ Awards are recognized as a symbol of achievement and excellence dedicated to honoring outstanding individuals, companies, performers and products that contribute positively to the adult entertainment industry. This year’s awards will once again coincide with the XBIZ Hollywood ’08 Conference to be held February 6-8, 2008 at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be included in such prestigious company with other power players in this category,” say Lavender Lounge owner, Mark Kliem. “I’ve been a cheerleader for the industry for a long time by promoting other studios, web sites and porn stars on my blog. It’s gratifying to finally get some recognition of my own.”

Lavender Lounge Blog is also nominated for "Best Adult Blog / Surfer's Choice" at the 8th Annual Cybersocket Web Awards which will occur on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, also in conjunction with the XBIZ Conference. It’s the fourth time Kliem has been nominated for a Cybersocket Award, and will hopefully garner his second trophy.

March 2008 will be Mark Kliem's 5th anniversary as a blogger, so if there ever was a time to be honored with an award, this would be the year. As a pioneer of blogging, especially for the adult industry, his wit and incite set a precedent for multitudes of gay porn bloggers that came later.

Recently, Mark Kliem’s alter-ego, Sister Zsa Zsa Glamour (SisterZsaZsa.com) of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. (TheSisters.org) made the list of "Most Interesting Person In The Wonderful World of Gay Porn" at Mark Adams’ VidioView.com. The list of “Most Interesting Person” is compiled by nominations from other people in the industry, and here's what it said:

"My colleague Onan The Vulgarian offers this: I'd like to say thank-you to Mark Kliem, aka Sister Sza Zsa Glamour, for his Epistle to the Porn Industry, in which he attempts to defuse the barebacking issue, over which so many lines have been drawn in the sand that one wonders if serious dialog is possible any longer."

January 2008 also marks twelve years that Mark Kliem has been working full time in the adult industry. Highlights of his career include:

-Produced and directed eight features for Brush Creek Media.
-First employee of Naked Sword.
-Founder and first editor of Gay Porn Blog.
-Launched Naked Sword’s “The Daily Report” (now called “Tim and Roma Show”.
-Judged GayVN Awards since 2001.

Upcoming projects for Mark Kliem and Lavender Lounge include:
-Launching Lavender Lounge Video Blog.
-Producing and directing his own line of DVD’s for Muscle Bear Cub.
-Researching “lost” gay porn movies from the 1970’s for re-issue on DVD.
